AI Stylist: What Do I Wear? Mobile Application
This thesis project is an exploration of the process of getting dressed, and how it’s incredibly complex. The What Do I Wear? mobile application functions as a personal stylist, utilizing an artificial intelligence agent trained on using identified variables when styling an outfit. This application will assist in the process of getting dressed by recommending weather-appropriate outfits that suit the user’s body shape, lifestyle and personal style. I have taken my process of critical thinking in personal styling and translated this process into an algorithm, which demonstrates a way data-driven technology can assist people with the task of getting dressed, using their pre-existing personal wardrobe. The fashion industry is turning a corner by merging with the technology industry in new ways, introducing leading innovations like artificial intelligence. A business plan is included in this thesis presentation to demonstrate the monetization of this specific product.
Savaya Shinkaruk built a career for herself in the fashion industry working in sales, communications, and personal styling / shopping. With over eight years of professional experience working as a personal shopper and stylist, she saw a gap in the market of making her skills available to the public in a more accessible way. While receiving her masters from OCAD University, she continues to work in fashion to learn about the integral process that goes into fashion, style, and clothing. When she isn’t working, she is travelling, purchasing sneakers, and enjoying a glass of wine with popcorn.
