Map A Path: Infographic Creator for Service Procedures
MAP (Map A Path) is a collaborative infographic-creating application that visualizes service procedures into infographics, aiming to improve the accessibility of essential services and promote equity for immigrants who are experiencing language barriers in Canada. This application assists and accelerates a collaborative workflow in which the audience of the infographics (newcomers), service experts (settlement experts or service providers), and graphic designers work collaboratively to create infographics that represent the service procedures.
The exhibition presents a functional low-fidelity prototype of the application, demonstrating the core functions for each role in this workflow. The viewers are invited to interact with the prototype and experience different roles’ responsibilities in the workflow during the demonstration.
MAP centres collaboration between technology and humans, among experts in different fields, and between experts and the end-users of the final outputs. Through designing this workflow and application, this ongoing research examines technology’s role in accessibility and equity, as well as designers’ responsibilities in building inclusive futures.
